Treasures of pre-cinema history
The magic lantern
On 16 October 1903, the company was founded by Fritz Neumeyer in Nuremberg with the takeover of the toy department of Bernhard Köllisch's metal goods factory, which had gone bankrupt. Magic lanterns were probably part of the production range from the beginning of the company's foundation.
With the beginning of World War I, Neumeyer sold the factory to Willi Scholler in 1914. Now the company name is "W. Scholler, Fabrik optischer und mechanischer Waren". The production range includes magic lanterns, cinematographs and steam engines. Around 1927, the factory appears to cease production.
Fritz Neumeyer has long been the successful owner of the famous Zündapp motorbike company.
